Music and health

The principal aim of this research is to explore how music can heal.
Just as the effect of conventional medicine cannot be divorced from the personal effect of the practitioner who delivers it and the context in which it is delivered, this research assumes that musicians who use music to heal patients are themselves part of the healing process; so, musicians' lived experiences provide an informative perspective on the relationship between music and healing. Specific objectives that follow from taking that viewpoint are to determine how musicians experience:
• Music as a healing power,
• Therapeutic interactions between themselves and ill people,
• Being healers.
